Live Like Carrie Bradshaw: Top Fall Shoe Trends

By Amanda Cohen on November 14, 2017

Even though the weather may feel closer to winter weather, I can assure you that it’s fall. With every new season comes new, cool, must-have fashion trends. I know this pattern isn’t great for your bank account, but that’s unfortunately how the fashion world works ~sigh~. However, just a side note, you can find cool trends for reasonable prices on websites like Amazon, Tobi, and eBay.

But now, back to the real reason why we are all here: fall shoe styles. Shoes may seem tedious, but they truly can make or break an outfit. So, embrace your inner Carrie Bradshaw and think about the wonderful world of shoes. If shoes aren’t your thing, but you want to know what to buy so you can stay on top of the latest trends, keep on reading!

Trendy Sneakers

Sneakers have taken over the world. I don’t know how it happened, but I like it. You may be asking yourself, “what’s the difference between trendy sneakers and regular sneakers?”

Well, untrendy shoes are ones that you would usually wear to the gym or ones that you would feel weird wearing on a date (weird criteria, I know, but it really is true). Trendy sneakers are great because they can be dressed-up or dressed-down. I wear my cool Adidas to class and to dinner with my friends.

Where should you look for trendy shoes? My go-to websites are Revolve Clothing, Asos, Amazon, Forever 21, ShopBop, Footlocker, Adidas, and APL. If none of these websites fit your needs, Google will become your best friend because all you have to do is type in “trendy sneakers” and boom, you have thousands of hits.

Over-the-Knee Boots

Over-the-knee boots were a huge hit last winter, and they continue to be a hit in the fall. When I think of over-the-knee boots, I think sexy, sophisticated, hot, glamorous, versatile, and comfortable. These boots come in all different colors, all different styles, all different materials, and all different heel-height (the possibilities are truly endless).

I love pairing over-the-knee boots with a leather skirt, jeans, mini dresses, and more. Since these boots are made up of a lot more material, they tend to be pricier, but you can find cheaper boots on a plethora of websites. Once again, I like to shop for these boots on Revolve, Asos, Amazon, and ShopBop. If you want your boots to last for a long time, I would consider splurging a bit or asking for them as a holiday gift.

Mule Slides

Slides are all the rage these days. Just to give you some background, the concept of mule slides was perfected by Gucci (I know this is not within many people’s budgets, but I just wanted to give you a brief history). Since Gucci’s prices are out of reach for most of us, other companies have been making more affordable options.

The cool thing about slides is that they can be worn literally anywhere. If you are obsessed with the Gucci slides, but aren’t a fan of the prices, Forever 21 and Steve Madden make amazing knockoffs that will not break the bank. If you are willing to splurge a little bit, but not to the extent of the Gucci prices, I would check out Jeffrey Campbell, Dolce Vita, Raye, Sol Sana, Sam Edelman, and more. All of these great options can be found on Revolve Clothing (my go-to website).

Sandal Slides

Slides are all the rage these days. New brands like Beyoncé’s Ivy Park and Rihanna’s Fenty have popularized the trend, but prior to these two booming companies, Steve Madden made furry sandal slides that became a staple in every college woman’s wardrobe.

I know what you all are thinking, who would wear sandal slides in the fall? Well, sandal slides are great to wear after the gym or around the house. Sure, you aren’t going to wear them walking to class, but that hasn’t seemed to deter anyone from buying them.

Ivy Park sandal slides are starting at $50, but you can find knockoffs on Forever 21 for a lot cheaper. I would definitely keep this style in mind when composing your Christmas/Hanukah wish list. I would personally buy a pair of furry or velvet sandal slides, but there are so many more options to choose from and you can’t go wrong with any of them!

The start of a new season is every fashionista’s favorite “holiday” because that means more shopping and new trends! Be sure to add some of these items to your Christmas/Hanukah list because you can splurge for the better-quality version of all of these items.

I know that I will be adding sandal slides to my holiday wish list because my closet is dying to have a pair of these on the shoe rack. As Carrie Bradshaw would say, “I like my money where I can see it … hanging (or rather sitting in regards to shoes) in my closet.”
